GUJARAT MULTIPLEXES BOYCOTT 'FANAA'

Gujarat has threatened that any theatre or multiplex screening Bollywood hero Aamir Khan's latest film, 'Fanaa', slated for release on May 26, will "have to face the wrath of patriotic Gujaratis and the consequences could be dangerous". The threat has come from ruling party BJP's Yuva Morcha. The Morcha has sought an apology from Aamir Khan if he wants 'Fanaa' released in Gujarat. "Aamir Khan has insulted the fifty million population of Gujarat. First, Aamir supported the Narmada Bachao Andolan and took an anti-Gujarat stand. Then he made nasty comments about chief minister Narendra Modi. There is no place for any anti-Gujarati in GujaratWe have already started convincing theatre and multiplex owners all over Gujarat to stay away from 'Fanaa'. Incidentally, there are 22 multiplexes and 350 theatres in Gujarat. On Tuesday evening, the Multiplex Theatres Association officially decided to stay away from 'Fanaa' screening. "We do not want to invite trouble. We have decided not to screen 'Fanaa', association president Manubhai Patel has said. Even the Congress Party has decided to remain "neutral" on the issue and not involve itself. Advance booking for 'Fanaa' has been put off in Gujarat, disappointing several Aamir Khan fans. Interestingly, some of Aamir's fans say, " We will fly down to Mumbai to watch the film. I will not miss it." .
